On Friday, Becky, Pat (Becky’s husband), Cole, and I headed to North Dakota for a wedding reception for my cousin, Scott, who got married in March. The trip to my aunt’s was fairly quick and uneventful. Cole and I sat in the back and slept while Becky and Pat took turns driving. When Cole and I woke up, I crocheted while I listened to him say, “Car.” Pause. “Car.” Pause. “Car,” whenever he saw a passing car or truck.
Friday night, we spent some time with our aunt who lives in Grand Forks. To my surprise, because Becky didn’t tell me or maybe she did and I wasn’t listening, two distant relatives had arrived for Scott’s wedding reception. Krissy and her crew were headed straight to the farm after spending a fair amount of time on the road … and Mom and Dad weren’t sure where they were going to stay the night but they ended up at the farm, too.
Saturday morning, Becky, Pat, Cole, and I headed to the farm to join the rest of the crew. Let me tell you about the weekend … the weather was beautiful. It wasn’t too hot, but it did get a little chilly at times … but hey, I would rather take a little bit of chilliness over hot weather any day. It was just nice to spend some time talking and hanging out with family. Nowhere to be. Nowhere to go. Just hang out and talk. It was very nice.
The wedding reception was a great way to catch up with old friends and relatives. What I loved the most was everyone was sitting around a big picnic table and just chatting and laughing. It was a good time. The two toddlers – Tova and Cole – provided most of the entertainment. I took plenty of pictures … I always tried to have my camera with me … and I think I have some good photos that I will try to post later.
Sunday was definitely a day for rest. The kids ran around and played while the adults tried to catch up on their sleep. Sunday was a low-key day that everyone needed … another day to relax and hang out. Although someone mentioned kickball and next thing I know, an impromptu game of kickball had started. I haven’t played kickball in ages, but playing kickball with family is just plain fun! Even Tova and Cole played (with a little bit of help).
I’m not sure how much my new sleeping schedule is going to last … I’m usually going to bed around midnight (or before) and then getting up about 8 a.m. No more sleeping in until 10 a.m. I don’t think I’m going to have too much problem breaking the schedule … I hope. On the homefront, Enrique and I used IM to talk because my cell phone doesn’t get service on the farm. He had been sick all last week … turns out, he has mono. Lovely.
So, more than likely, I have the virus … it’s just a matter of time before I show symptoms and I get sick. I’m not looking forward to having mono … Enrique has just been miserable all last week with a super sore throat and being tired and rundown. According to his doctor, he needs about a month or so to completely recover from mono. While Enrique will start to feel better during the upcoming days, he needs to take it easy for awhile.
So, today is Monday and everyone is heading back. Well, Krissy and her crew are heading to the Twin Cities to visit with some friends. Becky, Pat, and Cole will head home and then I will head to Wisconsin from their place. I think Mom and Dad are heading out as well but they plan on traveling around Minnesota for a few days and camping in some state parks that they’ve never stayed at. Anyway, congratulations to Scott and Amy! Thanks for the invitation, and may God bless both of you!
