Awwwww ... this is me holding the cute little nameless kitten. Isn't she cute?

She's soooo cute! I'm talking about the kitten not me.

On Halloween night, my mother-in-law and father-in-law found a wee little kitten hiding in their garage. They think the mother either forgot about it or ran off … anyway, they took the kitten in. Charlie and his sister grew up in a house with cats … I absolutely love listening to Charlie tell stories about George and Romeo and Patience and Lily.    But it has been awhile since his parents had a cat running around in the house, and his mother wasn’t sure if she wanted to have a cat again … at the time, she was just content to foster the kitten for awhile.

I had the good fortunate of seeing the kitten the day after they found it in the garage … and boy, is she a cute little thing! To make a long story short, Charlie’s mother decided to keep the kitten but hasn’t found the perfect name. In the meantime, she has been calling the kitten Cattapuss (I don’t know if that’s correct spelling). I’ve been meaning to post a photo of the cute kitten but haven’t had the chance … as you go “awwwwww” or “she’s sooooo cute” … does a name jump out to you? I would love to hear some suggestions.

Sorry, Tova, that this birthday post is a little late. Sorry.    Anyway, happy belated birthday! I hope you enjoyed your present and pink birthday cake. I had a great time hanging out with you and your brothers over the Thanksgiving holiday. Watching you joust on the Wii with Cole was pretty fun, and I’m glad you had a good time hanging out with Charlie … watching him play golf on his Playstation sidekick or whatever that thing is called.

Anyway, I wanted to say that you are a beautiful girl, and you have blessed all of our lives. Just remember that you are loved by many people, and we will always be here for you. I love you very much, Tova.

I remember two more things I don’t like the bitter cold … I miss my garage. I don’t miss scraping off snow and ice on my beautiful Vue. Last winter, all I had to do was head to my garage and back out. Now, I have to head out a few minutes early to warm up my Vue while I scrape, scrape, scrape at the ice and snow. *sigh* I miss my garage.

The second pet peeve I remember is my frozen car seat when the weather is SUPER cold. I hate hopping in and landing on my a very hard and cold seat. Brrrrrrr! The frozen seat reminds how cold the winter is … on the bright side, I can’t wait to take photos of the winter scene in the Wisconsin with our new camera! As soon as I get some new photos, I will post them on the blog and change the default blog photo.

Well, the snow is here. Charlie and I bought a new camera, and I’ve been bugging him to get a good snow shot so I can post it on my blog. But he hasn’t yet … but that’s OK since he helped me shovel the inches of snow off my car before I headed to work. Eventually, I will post a nice winter photo … anyway, I listed what I like about winter … now, here’s my list about what I DON’T like about winter.

• Hello, drivers. Yeah, I’m talking to you, the drivers who race through town going 5 mph during the first centimeters of snow. Did you see a few snowflakes and decide safety first? How long have you lived in Wisconsin or the Midwest? I’m not saying you need to race through town as if your car is fire, but pudging along at 5 mph won’t keep you any safer.
• The high winds and super cold weather. When the weather is cold and I need to brave the outside, I do bundle up. Hat. Scarf. Gloves. Layers. I don’t mind the cold, but I also don’t being SUPER cold. Blah.
• Losing the ability to park straight. As soon as the yellow or white guidelines in the parking lot disappear, everyone loses the ability to park properly. Not to mention, parking lots are also the dumping ground for huge snow piles, and therefore, losing more parking spaces.
• I think I had more reasons, but for some reason, I can’t think of any more. Slow drivers, lack of parking spaces and not being able to park, and the super cold weather are my top three pet peeves about winter.

No snow, but that’s OK with me. What I love about December and the Christmas season:

• The Christmas music. LOVE IT! I love it when stores play Christmas music. I have a nice collection of holiday tunes, and I plan to make some new CDs featuring my favorite songs. From the classic tune “Do They Know It’s Christmas” to more modern tunes, such as “This Christmas” by Elliott Yamin … I just love Christmas music.
• Christmas lights. The further we get into the month of December, I’m making Charlie take a neighborhood or city tour of all the houses that are decorated with Christmas lights. I love blinking colored lights. I look forward to the creativity and – sometimes the simplicity – of annual decorations.
• Everyone’s moods seems to be a bit brighter in December. Some people tend to be more generous … if only we could all be that way all year round. It was a couple of years ago when I stopped through McDonald’s drive-through on Christmas Eve when a person two cars ahead of me paid for my breakfast meal (my awesome bacon cheese egg biscuit, hashbrowns, and orange juice combo). I was so surprised at the kind gesture that I didn’t even think to give my money to pay for the meal behind me.
• Hot chocolate, hot cider, and cranberry tea. Cold winter nights make hot chocolate, hot cider and cranberry tea so delicious. I love snuggling on the couch with a warm mug. Just thinking of cranberry tea makes me want to grab a mug. Hmmmmmm.
• Sweaters. I love sweaters. I love dressing warm. Unfortunately, my work place keeps the place well heated to the point where I’m almost sweating. Recently, I’ve still been wearing short-sleeve shirts while everyone else is adorned in sweaters and cardigans. I’m a warm blooded person naturally … but I love sweaters and fleeces.

Things I learned over the Thanksgiving break:

• Do not leave your Facebook account open around your sisters because next thing you know your friends are congratulating you on the birth announcement of triplets or saying how much they will miss you when you move to Montana.
• Krissy is pretty good at swordplay in the Wii Sports Resort. Forget about strategy … shaking the remote really hard and fast makes a winner.
• Charlie yells at me if my Nintendo character accidentally pushes his character to death in Super Mario Bros. It was an accident!
• Playing Super Mario Bros. with four people is really fun. Seriously, it’s really fun … I highly recommend it.
• I’m really bad at Connect Four when I’m playing against Charlie. Seriously, we played like a dozen games against each other, and I think I won ONE game against him. And yes, it’s Connect Four.
• I learned a new game called Blokus, which is a combination of minesweeper and Tetris (very loosely). I’m getting better. And I would love that game for Christmas. *hint hint*
• I still love Bananagrams. I love playing that game.

I think with this lovely cat picture, I’m all caught up on my blogging. Yay! I have one more post for tomorrow, and then December rolls around and I can stop by blogging every day! Yay!

I have the greatest husband ever. Before making the big trek to Iowa for the Thanksgiving weekend, Charlie was thinking about all of the things he needed to bring. And one of those things was our Wii, which we haven’t played in awhile. There were a few new games that Charlie wanted to share with the family, especially my two older nephews, Ethan and Gavin.

The first awesome game that made everyone laugh was the swordplay on Sports Resort. All you really do is shake the remote at the TV in an attempt to knock your opponent off the circular platform into the water. I think Krissy is the undeclared champion, showing no mercy whatsoever on her opponents.

The first hilarious laugh was watching Krissy vigoriously shake the remote at the TV screen. For some reason, when Krissy and I battled each other … we thought inching closer to the TV screen would help (not really). In our defense, I didn’t know we were advancing toward the screen until people started yelling at us to step back.

After the adults had their fun, we thought Tova and Cole would love it. All they really need to do is shake the remote at the TV. How hard can that be? The cute factor was definitely upped watching two 3-year-olds shake the remote and watch their Miis on TV. Mii Tova had no problem kicking Mii Cole off the platform.

Not to mention, it was pretty cute to see Tova and Cole get excited with all of the video game action. Tova was pretty excited every time she won. Tova: “Look! Coley’s in the water!” And Cole was a good sport: “Look! I’m in the water! Yay!” It was a good chuckle … although it was talked about for awhile, the Krissy and Tova battle never took place, which is too bad, because I really would have liked to see that battle.

Ah, the joy of sisters. During the Thanksgiving weekend, Krissy was raving about some new book she had just finished, and she was recommending some books for me and Becky. On her Facebook page, Krissy has a virtual bookshelf, and I opened my Facebook account to look at her list of books that she’s read and is reading.

After looking at it, Becky wanted to look at the list, and I asked SPECIFICALLY if I should log out of my account so Becky could log onto her Facebook account. And Becky said, “No, that’s OK.” Dumb me, I didn’t think anything more of the situation until Jason (Krissy’s husband) starts dropping hints about me carrying triplets.

Apparently, Krissy and Becky decided to have fun with my Facebook status. For a few hours my status read: Jennifer is thankful to be expecting triplets! For the record, I am NOT pregnant with triplets. And I am NOT pregnant. The next day, Becky hops onto her Facebook account and doesn’t log out, which excites Krissy, who pulled me aside to let me know of the lovely fact and then pushed Becky out of the front door to go shopping.

As soon as Krissy and Becky leave, I hop onto the computer and think of revenge. At first, I was thinking about posting a baby status, but then I decided people would know it was a joke. So I sat thinking about what I could post … then finally I decided on this status: Becky has sad/happy news to share: Pat and I have decided to move to Montana to raise cattle and horses.

As soon as I posted the status, I didn’t think it was funny enough. Was it as good as me expecting triplets? Would her friends believe she and Pat were actually moving to Montana to raise horses and cattle? Not to mention, Charlie was no help. I forgot about the status as Charlie and I went shopping in Cedar Rapids.

But then I got this lovely text from Becky: Thanks for creating a family crisis. Apparently, one of Pat’s aunts read the status and then called Pat’s grandmother with the news. Then his grandmother called Pat’s mother. While shopping, Pat received a serious phone call from his mother asking him if he had something to share with her.

Not to mention, Becky’s status received eight comments! It was pretty awesome. Pat wasn’t amused, but Krissy and I thought it was hilarious. I think Becky thought it was funny too but I don’t think she admitted it. I love my sisters.
